Each month we organise a Big Dog Walk, usually on the first Sunday – but this can vary depending on a few factors, so check our Facebook page for details. These take place at Bakers Park where we walk from the Park, along the River Lemon into Bradley Valley and Woods. In the summer months we also run a mid-week walk usually on a Wednesday along the River Teign from Exeter Road Kingsteignton.
These started off quite small, with 6 dogs and their owners, they have become increasingly popular and we often have 12-18 dogs and owners – including families join us on a regular basis.

As well as raising money for good causes, these walks provide an opportunity for the owners of all dogs – large and small dogs – to let them interact, play and learn from other Dogs in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

The first walk in March 2022 was to support animal charities helping dogs affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Our second walk was to support Animals in Distress.

Following the loss of our girl Sasha to cancer in the summer of 2022 we used the remain walks of that year to raise money for the National Canine Cancer Foundation.
For 2023 we decided to focus on supporting one charity for the year and selected Devon Dog Behaviour Rehabilitation and Rehome (DDBR&R) a local charity that does brilliant work helping the dogs that most rescues cannot or will not help.

In 2024 we raised over £1200 pounds for DDBR&R.
In 2025, we are continuing to support DDBR&R, through fundraising from the mid week walks in the summer but also via the Dog Show at the Country Show at Newton Abbot Racecourse in August – see section on Dog shows.
For 2025 following several further cases of cancer in dogs we new – we are also raising money via the Sunday Big Dog Walks for research and teaching into Canine Cancer in partnership with the University of Surrey – School of Veterinary Medicine.

Fundraising activities in 2025.
Updated total raised £1725!
£877 to support research into canine cancer at the University of Surrey, School of Veterinary Medicine.
£848 to support Devon Dogs Behaviour Rehabilitation and Rehome, a special dog rescue and sanctuary.
This year we will continue to support DDBR&R’s great work with some of the most difficult dogs, handed into rescues.
In addition we will be raising funds for Foredowne Strays – which is where almost all of Devons stray dogs end up being sent to. Funding is minimal and short term (weeks at best) and some dogs can be left for man months even years. Our fundraising will go towards vaccinations and other pro-active measures.
